Healing the Mind and Nervous System Together

I combine trauma-informed talk therapy with Somatic Experiencing® because each contributes something different to the healing process. Together, they help you move from awareness to meaningful action.

Through trauma-informed talk therapy, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of yourself while discovering that you have choices. You will no longer need to rely on old ways of coping, opening the door to healthier ways of being.

As you reconnect with your own needs, values, and strengths, you’ll begin making choices based on who you are today rather than automatic patterns you’ve relied on for years.

Somatic Experiencing® helps your nervous system experience safety in new ways, making it easier to stay present, tolerate difficult emotions, and respond with greater flexibility rather than automatically reacting from old survival patterns.

As your nervous system becomes more regulated and less easily triggered, the insights you gain in psychotherapy become easier to apply in everyday life.

Healing Through Connection

Our therapeutic relationship is an important part of the healing process.

Through co-regulation, your nervous system gradually learns new ways of responding as we work together at your own pace. These experiences become the foundation for our work.

Understanding Corrective Experiences

Corrective experiences are opportunities for your mind, body, and nervous system to learn that you are no longer living in the same circumstances that once shaped you.

With time and repetition, these new experiences become the groundwork for lasting change.

  • Experience being heard without fear of judgment or criticism.
  • Move at a pace your nervous system can manage.
  • Develop new ways of responding beyond old survival patterns.

Why Being on Your Own Side Matters

You may have learned to question yourself after years of criticism, emotional neglect, or having your feelings dismissed. Over time, those experiences made it difficult to trust your instincts, your perceptions, and your own judgment.

When you don’t trust yourself, it’s easy to rely on other people’s opinions, ignore your own needs, or second-guess your decisions. You may even believe that being hard on yourself keeps you motivated, when it actually keeps you working against yourself.

As you learn to trust yourself, everything else begins to change. You become more confident in your decisions, communicate more directly, establish healthier boundaries, and choose relationships that better reflect your worth.
